    The beauty of Collins Lake is reason enough to stop by. Now, you may assume that's heaps but there's even more enjoyable stuff to do here in the Sangre De Cristo Mountains. If only every site had this much outdoors amusing things, what a great planet it would be. If you get bored of Collins Lake, you could also check out close by Morphy Lake, and Alto De Las Herrera is one of the streams nearby that might be worth stopping at. For the period of the months of  
   summer at Collins Lake temperatures are mostly in the 80's. When the night sets in temperatures plunge down into the 50's. Daytime highs all through the winter are in the 30's; nighttime lows in the 0's for Collins Lake.
This lake is so wonderful. Nearby Comanche Canyon is a magnificent place to go if you're at Collins Lake; going for a hike along the West Fork Angostura Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this area. Collins Lake is great enough
 
               to spend more than a day at, Upper La Junta Campground is a great local campground, and Angel Fire Resort is a great site to get some rest. You'll never forgive yourself if you don’t go skiing at Sipapu Ski if you're here, and if you're here you can take a hike along the Divide Trail.
And if that's not sufficient there's lots more enjoyable things to do in the Sangre De Cristo Mountains. There's so much to do here at Collins Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Trails End RV Park is a good spot for that; you can have a great hiking adventure along the Gascon Trail. This lake is located in the wonderful Sangre De Cristo Mountains. Collins Lake is a location that is reasonably arid commonly; of all the months in a year August is the one with the most rain while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
