     Collins Lake is always a pleasure to visit. That right there is loads already, but it continues; Collins Lake has it all. Comanche Canyon is right next door to Collins Lake and is beyond doubt a pleasant place to go to. There's no way someone can get bored here in the Sangre De Cristo Mountains. Near Collins Lake you stumble on the Gascon Trail which is a magnificent hiking trail, and camping is available at Duran Canyon Campground. Collins Lake is pretty dehydrated  
   commonly; most of the rain falls through August, and February meanwhile is the driest month.
Collins Lake is a beautiful lake in the Sangre De Cristo Mountains. This lake is so wonderful. Going for a hike on the West Fork Angostura Trail is always a pleasant adventure, and a perfect site to camp here at Collins Lake is Upper La Junta Campground. Throughout the summer highs here at Collins Lake get into the 80's, and throughout summer nights temperatures are
 
               in the 50's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 30's, and night lows at Collins Lake through the winter ordinarily plunge into the 0's.
Dry warm beds await you at Angel Fire Resort; of course Alto De Las Herrera is a striking stream that is worth stopping at. Hit the slopes at Sipapu Ski nearby; you can go for a hike on the Divide Trail.
