    If you are traveling by, why not stop by Cold Lake. Just can't get enough of the San Juan and Jemez Mountains. Cold Lake is a great location to visit for more than one day, Middle Canjilon Campground is a great location to camp nearby; dry warm beds await you at The Abiquiu Inn. Cold Lake is a site with many visitors from Espanola, and a short spree to Alkali Spring is always worthwhile. Stay the night at Canjilon Creek Campground, and get your heart pumping on  
   the pleasant whitewater of Rio Brazos.
This lake is so wonderful. You can run the rapids of Rio de los Brazos near Cold Lake, and if you need a location to stay Branding Iron Motel is a splendid choice. The San Juan and Jemez Mountains scenery is always beautiful. Man, is there heaps of cool things to do close to Cold Lake.
Around Cold Lake you don’t get a lot of rainfall; August is the wettest month with most rain, and the driest month of the year
 
               is May. All through the days of summer at Cold Lake highs are regularly in the 80's. Summer night lows plunge down to the 40's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 30's, and winter nights come with lows in the 0's to Cold Lake.
