    If you like lakes and you're in this part of New Mexico you can check out Cocklebur Lake. Cocklebur Lake is a location that is pretty waterless typically; August is the wettest month with most rain while January is typically the driest month. Through the warm months here at Cocklebur Lake, high temperatures commonly get into the 90's; throughout summer nights temperatures are in the 60's. For the duration of the winter highs are in the 50's, and night lows at Cocklebur  
   Lake through the wintertime frequently descend into the 20's. Good hiking is available along the Capitan Peak Trail, and Rip Lake is a nearby lake that you could visit.
Hiking is a popular thing to do around Cocklebur Lake; Mitten Bar Trail is a great local trail, and if you need a site to stay Ruidoso Downs-Days Inn is a good choice. There's just no way anyone can get bored here at Cocklebur Lake. There's so much to do here at Cocklebur Lake that you need
 
               to camp here for a while, Mountain High RV Park is a nice place for that, and there's tremendous hiking along the Summit Trail.
This lake is so wonderful. If you came to camp Baca Campground is a great site to do that; while you're here, you could also check out beautiful Antelope Lake.
