Camping at Las Conchas Campground is always a splendid experience. If time allows, Bandelier National Monument is a national park worth going to, and brilliant water scenery is available at Cochiti Dam near Cochiti Lake. If you adore the outdoors you'll adore it here in the San Juan Mountains. Hiking along the Canada Capulin Trail is great fun, and folks from Los Alamos love to come here. It is very dried out here at Cochiti       Lake frequently; throughout the month of August you get the most rain around here, and May meanwhile is the driest month. A brilliant place close to Cochiti Lake is Canada de Cochiti; if you came to camp Juniper Campground is a perfect place to do that. Throughout the long summer days, highs usually are in the 70's at Cochiti Lake. All through the dark hours of summer temperatures descend down into the 40's. All through the wintertime highs are usually in the 30's                  with winter lows in the 0's overnight here at Cochiti Lake. This location, the San Juan Mountains, has so much outdoors enjoyable things. Take a hike on the Cochiti Frijoles Trail, and a great nearby hotel is Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Los Alamos, Nm. This lake is one of the great places here in the San Juan Mountains. This lake is so wonderful. Take a side trip to Santa Fe River, and whitewater paddling is glorious on Rio Grande. Cochiti Lake in fact is in the middle of a delightful outdoors paradise.
