    If you are in Rio Arriba county it's always a good idea to stop by Chino Dry Lake. This lake is one of the great places here in the San Juan and Jemez Mountains. Camping at Rio De Los Pinos Campground is always a good experience; a great close by hotel is Branding Iron Motel. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 70's to Chino Dry Lake. Once the sun is down it dips down to the 40's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 30's, and overnight lows  
   in the-10's for Chino Dry Lake.
This lake is so wonderful. Camping is available at Twin Rivers Guest Ranch; Chino Peak is clearly visible from Chino Dry Lake. It is very waterless here at Chino Dry Lake regularly; most of the rain falls through July, and January is the month with the least moisture. There's no way anyone can get bored here in the San Juan and Jemez Mountains. In case you don’t have a problem getting dripping wet, you can always go whitewater
 
               paddling on Rio de los Pinos; you can have a tremendous hiking adventure along the Spruce Hole Trail.
San Antonio River is a delightful whitewater spot near Chino Dry Lake.
