    Chimney Pond is a great lake in an area with lots of outdoors fun all around. Stay the night at Ship Rock Campground, and hiking is a popular thing to do around Chimney Pond; Ute Springs Trail is a tremendous local trail. High temperatures at Chimney Pond through the months of summer are in the 90's. All through the dark hours of summer temperatures dip down into the 50's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 40's; winter nights come with lows in the 10's to Chimney  
   Pond. There's so much to do here at Chimney Pond that you need to camp here for a while, Sulphur Spring Campground is a magnificent place for that, and there's pleasant hiking along the Petroglyph Point Trail.
Drift down the rapids of San Juan River in a kayak, and Burnt Squash Draw is a great site to spend some time. Be careful coming to Chimney Pond, you might not ever wanna go home again. This lake is so wonderful. If you need a place to stay Ute Mountain
 
               Hotel is a fine choice, and don't leave Chimney Pond without first going for a hike along the Rock Springs Trail.
Around Chimney Pond you don’t get a lot of precipitation; of all the months in a year August is the one with the most rain, and the driest month is June.
