Laguna Chico is a great lake in an area with lots of outdoors fun all around. Laguna Chico is located in the San Juan and Jemez Mountains. This is no spot for people who don’t like to enjoy themselves. Go for a hike on the Lemitas Trail; whitewater paddling is great on Rio Ojo Caliente. This lake is so wonderful. There are tremendous sites to look at along the Palacio Trail, and nearby you locate brilliant spots like Canon Largo. This lake is so wonderful.

| | You'll meet a lot of folks from Espanola here, and Comfort Inn Espanola is a nice site to get some rest. If you came for an overnight stay Canjilon Creek Campground is a fine place to camp, and a fine close by hotel is The Abiquiu Inn. You could also go to Laguna de las Ranas if you're here at Laguna Chico; it's nearby; in case you don’t have a problem getting drenched, you can always go whitewater paddling on Rio Chama. Mountains, has so much outdoors enjoyable stuff. Going for a hike on the Apache Trail is always a fine adventure; Middle Canjilon Campground is a glorious local campground. Summertime highs at Laguna Chico ordinarily tend to be in
the 80's while nighttime lows are usually in the 40's. Daytime highs all through the winter are in the 30's with winter lows in the 0's overnight here at Laguna Chico. Laguna Chico is pretty dried up commonly; August is the wettest
month with most rain, and the driest of the months is April. If you like the outdoors you'll like it here in the San Juan and Jemez Mountains. A short tour to Cholejo Spring is always worthwhile, and if you've had enough of Laguna Chico, Laguna Pinabete Mocho is nearby.
