    If you are in Catron county it's always a good idea to stop by Cat Lake. The Zuni Mountains scenery is always beautiful. Summertime highs at Cat Lake usually tend to be in the 80's, and throughout summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 40's with winter lows in the 10's overnight here at Cat Lake. The view of Cat Hill from Cat Lake is delightful; you can have a splendid hiking adventure along the Escondido Trail.
 
   You just can't imagine the amount of outdoors enjoyable stuff the Zuni Mountains has to offer. Quemado Lake Campground is a splendid local campground, and a tremendous location close by is Cat Draw. This lake is so wonderful. Do pay a visit to El Morro National Monument while you're here at Cat Lake. Around Cat Lake you don’t get a lot of rainfall; the month of August is the wettest with most of the rain, and the driest of the months is April.
