There's some flowing water nearby, Arroyo Tierra Blanca is a stream you can stop at during your stay, and Fort Union National Monument is a great national park. This lake is so wonderful. Calleys Lake is usually a relatively dry location; July is the month that gets the most rain, and the driest month of the year is January.
