    The beauty of Calaveras Well is reason enough to stop by. Not much rainfall falls here at Calaveras Well; most of the rain falls throughout August, and the driest month is April. A tremendous spot near Calaveras Well is Pony Canyon, and since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always take a look at close by Fenton Lake. If only every place had this much outdoors enjoyable things, what a great globe it would be. Going for a hike along the Redonda Trail  
   will let you absorb the natural beauty of this region; if you don't mind getting wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Jemez River.
If you have a thing about the outdoors you'll have a thing about it here in the San Juan and Jemez Mountains. You'll really wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the exciting things in the San Juan and Jemez Mountains. Very striking scenery and good skiing is what you get at Pajarito Mountain, and the Palomas Trail
 
               is a glorious hiking trail close by. For the duration of the summer months at Calaveras Well highs are usually in the 80's. For the period of the dark hours of summer temperatures fall down into the 50's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 40's; all through the dark hours in the wintertime at Calaveras Well temperatures descend to the 0's.
If the weather is delightful here at Calaveras Well, you can go for a hike along the Perchas Trail, and Calaveras Campground is a great campground nearby. Calaveras Well is located in the San Juan and Jemez Mountains. This lake is so wonderful. This is a great area for folks who like lakes. Jarosito Trick Tnak is a lake close at hand; Seven Springs Campground is a delightful local campground.

If this: Highline Trail re: Rio Arriba County. This trail runs from Polvadera Peak to Chicoma Mountain (Rio Arriba's Highest) ...and is in the JEMEZ MOUNTAINS..NOT the San Juan. It refers to Abiquiu lots..so I assume it is. More infor in July or August when we'll be exploring it!...
