Good hiking is available along the Wilderness Ridge - Shumard Trail, and a good spot is Hog Spring Canyon. Any time is a brilliant time at Black Lake if you love the outdoors. Black Lake is commonly a pretty dried up place; September is the wettest month with most rain, and March is the month with the least moisture. Black Lake is a beautiful lake in the Guadalupe       Mountains. You'll need more than a day to look at everything Black Lake has to offer, you can camp at Queen Store Cafe and RV Park; a trip to Black Lake wouldn't be complete without taking a look at Hog Spring. A visit to Guadalupe Mountains National Park is worthwhile; you can go for a hike on the Ussery Trail. That right there is a lot of amusing things already but it goes on, the Guadalupe Mountains has it all. Don't leave Black Lake without first going                  for a hike along the Golden Stairway Trail. There's so much to do here at Black Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Pine Spring Campground is a good place for that. For the duration of the summer months highs here at Black Lake get into the 80's. All through the moonlight hours it's typically in the 60's.
