This lake is located in the wonderful Sacramento Mountains. There's so much to do here at Allen Lake that you need to camp here for a while, James Canyon Campground is a tremendous place for that, and Allen Lake is not the only place nearby, Cantwell Lake is a nearby lake. From a rainfall point of view Allen Lake is a reasonably common place; August is when you get the most rain here, and April is when it's the driest.       This lake is so wonderful. Lodge at Cloudcroft is a nice place to get some rest. Whohoo, so much entertaining stuff in one place! The Sacramento Mountains rocks! If you came to camp Sacramento Mountain Retreat is a great location to do that, and McDonald Flat is a great location here at Allen Lake. All through the warm months highs here at Allen Lake reach the 70's. Summer night lows drop down to the 40's.
