If you are traveling by, why not stop by Western Reservoir. This lake is so wonderful. If you're here at Western Reservoir, you could explore Bear Brook; don't leave Western Reservoir without first going for a hike along the Sherwood Path. A delightful lake like Mill Pond in the neighborhood of Western Reservoir is a great spot to stop at, and if you like swamps you're in luck, Bear Swamp is right close by.

You simply have to like Western Reservoir. There's delightful hiking along the Suffern-Bear Mountain
Trail, and Gateway National Recreation Area is a wonderful local destination. There's some interesting stuff to catch a sight of at Woodcliff Lake Dam in close proximity to Western Reservoir, and drift down the rapids of Ramapo River
in a kayak. The high level of precipitation makes Western Reservoir a quite wet place; July is when you get the most rain here, and the driest month of the year is February.
This lake is so wonderful. Stay the night at Kaufmann
Henry Campgrounds, and a splendid nearby hotel is Park Ridge Marriott. There's so much to do here at Western Reservoir that you need to camp here for a while, Camp wabenaki is a good site for that; get yourself into a kayak and hit
Popolopen Creek. The best way to spend a winter day is on the slopes of close by Sterling Forest, and if you need a place to stay Hilton Woodcliff Lake is a tremendous choice.
