If you come at the right time of year, Pequannock River offers some pleasant whitewater; a delightful close by hotel is Mountain Creek- Black Creek Sanctuary. The warmest time of the year at West Milford Lake arrives with high temperatures in the 80's. For the period of the moonlight hours it's mostly in the 50's. The winter brings highs down to the 30's, and during the dark hours in the wintertime at West Milford Lake       temperatures dip to the 10's. Whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then we recommend Rockaway River, and close by you stumble on Woodruff Gap which is a wonderful spot to check out. This lake is so wonderful. Stay the night at Camp Ocawasin Lodge, and one of the overriding features of the surroundings of West Milford Lake is Bearfort Mountain. Whohoo, so many amusing things in one place! West Milford Lake is peerless! The Pine Meadow Trail                  offers hiking at its best, and Gateway National Recreation Area is a wonderful national park. There's splendid hiking along the Cannonball Trail, and if you like skiing, you're in luck; Mt. Peter is reasonably near. An afternoon playing golf at Spa Executive Nine Golf Course is always a joy, and not far from West Milford Lake you'll locate Melody Lake which is a stunning lake. Lots of precipitation falls at West Milford Lake; July is the month that gets the most rain while February is mostly the driest month. Do take a look at West Milford Lake Dam if you're here at West Milford Lake. And if you're still looking for more outdoors enjoyable things just keep reading. Hiking is a popular thing to do around West Milford Lake; Kakiat Trail is a great local trail, and obviously Belcher Creek is a pretty stream that is worth visiting. Motor Sports Marina and Campground is a wonderful campground nearby; Hidden Valley is a brilliant local ski area. This lake is so wonderful.
