Mount Kemble Lake

Sunrise Lake
 | 10 miles away Moving here 5 years ago, this is one of the most beautiful areas around, but is maintained very poorly. The surrounding areas are kept quite well, but it doesn't seem like cleaning the lake our yearly or bi-yearly is a priority.I would like to swim in this lake with my family, but do not feel it is of swimming calibur, and when ever we go there it is usually closed. Maybe you all could see the benefit to this park and invest a little in cleaning the water and the beach area, as there is way too much seaweed in the beach area. Thx for understanding.... |
Lamington River
 | 10 miles away May 23rd 2009 Just got off the river in an inflatable, with a very shallow draft. Not too much water, had to get out and walk in river often.

 | 10 miles away Yes - Truly the best. I was there for 5 or 6 summers from approx 1964 to 1969. I remember watching Neil Armstrong walk on the moon among many highlights......Back in the 60's there was a sleep away camp called Camp Farrington. It was a fantastic place and one I remember as the most important in my life! Does anyone know or remember? I would love to get in touch with them.... |

Bee Meadow Pond
 | 16 miles away Beautiful scenery. A trail surrounding the second and 3rd ponds makes for a nice walk although a little overgrown in places. Fishing has been slow to recover from the fishkill in 2001 when fertilizer chemicals built up on the deep bottom mixed with the pondwater creating toxic conditions for the fish. It is slowly improving with the bass and pickerel that have survived are replenishing the fish population. I've caught some 4 to 6 pound bass in recent years so they must have been around before and survived the fishkill which is good news. The Pond is stocked with trout annually, but I can't see them lasting longer than a couple of weeks due to the warm and stagnant waters. Spring and early summer are the best times to go before the fertilizer rich waters of pond foster abundant algae and lillypad growth. The second and third ponds are the best for bass, while catfish can be caught anywhere and thrive in the stagnant waters. I would recommend shiners for bass if you can find them anywhere, but lures work fine.... |
