The warmest time of the year at Upper Greenwood Lake arrives with high temperatures in the 70's. Once the sun is down it dips down to the 50's. Through the wintertime the highs are ordinarily in the 30's, and night lows in the 10's for Upper Greenwood Lake. Dry warm beds await you at Mountain Creek-                  Black Creek Sanctuary; if you're here, you might as well visit Woodruff Gap. There's some interesting stuff to catch a sight of at Upper Greenwood Lake Dam near Upper Greenwood Lake; whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then, we recommend Ramapo River. If you come at the right time of year, Pequannock River offers some good whitewater, and since you're here you can take a hike along the Kakiat Trail. But wait, there's more to do next to Upper Greenwood Lake. Sawmill Pond Brook flows through this vicinity; do visit Surprise Lake, it's a beautiful lake.
