Custom Search     Upper Greenwood Lake     Upper Greenwood Lake is indeed a beautiful lake, but it is also a private lake. One needs to live in the area and pay easement fees to use the lake, and if one wishes to use the beach, that will cost more. There is a security guard that patrols the area. Even fishing by outsiders is discouraged. Most of the lakes in West Milford are private lakes. I wouldn't want anyone to get arrested if caught fishing in any of the lake areas. Greenwood lake is a bistate lake,     part in NY and part in NJ. It is open to the public, but for a price depending on what one wants to do. Also there is the State park, Waywayanda located off of Warwick Turnpike, which goes past Upper Greenwood Lake. This park is free to all before Memorial day, but after that there is a daily fee to park your car. Swimming is free if people want to pay the parking fee or take the long hike down.
