Norvin Green State Forest is a wonderful local forest; if the weather is magnificent, you can go for a hike along the Kakiat Trail. This lake is so wonderful. Skiing at Mt. Peter is one of those things you just have to do; a spree
to Gateway National Recreation Area is worthwhile. You'll never forgive yourself if you don’t go skiing at Hidden Valley while you're here; float down the rapids of Rockaway River in a kayak. For the period of the warm months
highs here at Shady Lake get into the 80's. For the period of the dark hours of summer temperatures plunge down into the 50's. For the period of the wintertime highs are regularly in the 30's; winter nights come with lows in the 10's
to Shady Lake. Torne Mountain is clearly visible from Shady Lake; going for a hike along the Cannonball Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this area. That right there is a heap already, but it keeps on going; Shady Lake
has it all. The Pine Meadow Trail is a pleasant hiking trail close to Shady Lake, and a brilliant close by hotel is Stumble Inn.
