Shady Lake mostly gets much rain; most of the rain falls during July, and February is the month with the least moisture. There's just no way anybody can get bored here at Shady Lake. From Shady Lake you obtain a magnificent panorama of Torne Mountain. There's so much to do here at Shady Lake that you       need to camp here for a while, Motor Sports Marina and Campground is a good spot for that. Paddling on Rockaway River is so much fun, and the best way to spend a winter day is on the slopes of nearby Hidden Valley. Best Western Regency House Hotel is a nice location to get some rest. While you're here at Shady Lake, you could also stop by beautiful Zeliff Pond. You'll need more than a day to explore everything Shady Lake has to offer, you can camp at Camp                  Ocawasin Lodge. This lake is so wonderful. Pequannock River has a great whitewater paddling spot close by; some of the water nearby flows, like Matthews Brook. Gordon Lakes is a nearby lake that you could have a look at, and why not head up to Mt. Peter and strap some skis to your feet. High temperatures at Shady Lake throughout the months of summer are in the 80's while overnight lows are mostly in the 50's. The winter brings highs down to the 30's with winter lows in the 10's overnight here at Shady Lake. Be careful coming to Shady Lake, you might not ever want to go back home again. If you want to play some golf, you're in luck because Sunset Valley Golf Course is in the neighborhood, and don't leave Shady Lake without first going for a hike along the Cannonball Trail. There's a forest here at Shady Lake called Norvin Green State Forest, and hiking is a popular thing to do around Shady Lake; Pine Meadow Trail is a good local trail. This lake is so wonderful.
