Schlegel Lake is a very beautiful lake in beautiful surroundings. Gotta ski! Sterling Forest is a good location to do that, and if you haven’t been to Gateway National Recreation Area, you have to schedule some time for it since you're here. Whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then we recommend Ramapo River, and there's magnificent hiking along the Suffern-Bear Mountain Trail. The high level of rain makes Schlegel Lake a pretty wet location; of all the months in a year July is the one with the most rain, and the driest month of the year is February. This lake is so wonderful. Kaufmann Henry Campgrounds is a perfect campground nearby, and playing golf is lots of fun at Paramus Golf & Country
Club. If only every site had this much outdoors cool things, what a great earth it would be. Stay the night at Trailmark Outdoor Adventures, and during your journey here you'll meet some people from New York-Newark-Edison for sure.
Take a little visit to Saint Andrews Brook since you're here at Schlegel Lake; hiking is a popular thing to do around Schlegel Lake; Conklins Crossing is a glorious local trail.
Get your pulse rate up on the good whitewater of
Popolopen Creek; Woodcliff Lake Dam is an interesting thing to check out. For the period of the warm months at Schlegel Lake highs are ordinarily in the 80's with overnight lows in the 60's. The winter brings highs down to the 30's while the cold winter nights at Schlegel Lake are in the 10's.
