Camping is available at Appalacian Mountain Club, and hiking is a popular thing to do around Mud Pond; Flat Ridge Trail is a fine local trail. This lake is so wonderful. Camping at Walpack Valley Campground is always a splendid experience; why not take a refreshing hike along the Maple Brook Trail. This site is great, just look at       all the amusing stuff to do near Mud Pond. Nearby lakes? Sure, Turtle Pond is right next door to Mud Pond, and a journey to Delaware National Scenic River is worthwhile. This lake is so wonderful. Get dripping wet paddling on Pequest River; a golf course close by is Bear Brook Golf Club. The skiing at Shawnee Mountain is great, and Inn at Panther Valley is a perfect spot to get some rest. You're probably keen on lakes, Shuster Pond is one of those                  close by, and whitewater paddling is good on Hornbeck's Creek. The high level of precipitation makes Mud Pond a quite wet place; the month of May is the wettest with most of the rain while February is frequently the driest month. Summertime brings highs in the 80's to Mud Pond. Throughout the moonlight hours it's mostly in the 50's.
