This lake is so wonderful. The landscape around Mastodon Lake is dominated by the Hamburg Mountains, and skiing at Hidden Valley is one
of those things you just must do. Through the summer, highs generally are in the 80's at Mastodon Lake. For the period of the moonlight hours it's usually in the 50's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 30's, and nighttime
lows at Mastodon Lake during the wintertime typically dip into the 10's. Why not camp at Tall Timbers Campground while you're here at Mastodon Lake, and if you come at the right time of year, Clove Brook offers some magnificent whitewater.
Get yourself into a kayak and hit Pequannock River, and Camp Nyoda is a good local campground.
