But wait, there's more to do right next door to MacMillan Reservoir. MacMillan Reservoir lays in the shadow of the Ramapo Mountains, and you can hit the slopes at Sterling Forest in the neighborhood. MacMillan Reservoir is a wet site that gets lots of rainfall; the       month with most of the rain is November; the driest month of the year is February. This lake is so wonderful. A good swamp near MacMillan Reservoir is Bear Swamp; Ramapo River has a magnificent whitewater paddling spot close by. Bear Swamp Brook is a delightful stream that is worth checking out, and you can have a pleasant hiking adventure along the Kakiat Trail.
