Going for a hike on the Kakiat Trail is always a great adventure, and Forest Hill Lake is a good lake close by. Near Johns Lake you locate the Cannonball Trail which is a wonderful hiking trail, and Rockaway River has a glorious whitewater paddling spot nearby. This lake is so wonderful. The best way to spend a winter day is on the slopes of nearby Hidden Valley, and if you need a place to stay Parsippany - Days Inn is       a nice choice. At Johns Lake during the summer months highs are in the 80's. Once the sun is down it falls down to the 50's. Daytime highs all through the winter are in the 30's, and overnight lows all through the winter for Johns Lake tend to be in the 10's. There are good spots to discover along the Pine Meadow Trail, and playing golf is lots of fun at Green Pond Golf Club. The snow is tremendous at Mountain Creek, and if you don’t have a problem getting                  soaked, you can always go whitewater paddling on Pequannock River. Johns Lake sees pretty high levels of rain; throughout July this area sees the most rain while February is typically the driest month. Be careful coming to Johns Lake, you might not ever wanna go home again. A nice vista of striking Kanouse Mountain is available from Johns Lake, and don't miss out on a tour to Gateway National Recreation Area since you're here. This lake is so wonderful. Camp Nyoda is a glorious campground nearby; Macopin Reservoir Dam is charming. After a long day outdoors Embassy Suites Hotel Parsippany is a magnificent place to spend a night or two, and why not take a little tour to Apshawa Brook while you're here. There's just no way someone can get bored here at Johns Lake.
