Glovers Pond is a nearby lake that you could stop by; get your heart pumping on the great whitewater of Pequest River. This lake is so wonderful. For you golfers we recommend nearby Bear Brook Golf Club, and do stop at French Lake Dam while you're here. You just can't envision the amount of outdoors       enjoyable things the area near French Lake has to offer. The high level of precipitation makes French Lake a relatively wet place; through May this area sees the most rain, and the driest of the months is February. The Flat Ridge Trail is a nice hiking trail close to French Lake; a great close by hotel is Comfort Inn Hackettstown. French Lake truly is in the middle of a scenic outdoors paradise. Shawnee Mountain is a wonderful local ski area, and if you haven’t                  been to Delaware National Scenic River, you should schedule some time for it while you're here. All through the summer months highs here at French Lake get into the 80's while nighttime lows are commonly in the 50's. Daytime highs through the winter are in the 30's, and all through the dark hours in the winter at French Lake temperatures dip to the 10's. A great place for whitewater paddling close to French Lake is Hornbeck's Creek, and camping at Appalacian Mountain Club is always a nice experience. This lake is so wonderful. Bear Brook is a magnificent local stream; if you need a place to stay Inn at Panther Valley is a good choice.
