You can run the rapids of Hornbeck's Creek next to Duck Pond, and a great site for whitewater paddling is Paulins Kill River. This lake is so wonderful. Since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always stop at close by Little Swartswood Lake, and a nice close by hotel is Econo Lodge Newton. While you're here at Duck Pond you       should pop by Hendershots Point, and Duck Pond is right by the Lost Cabin Trail. But wait, there's more to do right next door to Duck Pond. After a long day outdoors Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Newton Sparta is a great spot to spend a night or two, and pleasant skiing awaits you at Shawnee Mountain. The warmest time of the year at Duck Pond comes with high temperatures in the 80's with overnight lows in the 50's. Highs through the wintertime are                  mostly in the 30's, and after the sun is down through the wintertime temperatures at Duck Pond descend into the 10's. A tour to Delaware National Scenic River is worthwhile. There's so much to do here at Duck Pond that you need to camp here for a while, Windy Acres Campground is a glorious location for that. Just can't get enough of Duck Pond. This lake is so wonderful. Duck Pond is in close proximity to Paulins Kill Dam which is a beautiful location absolutely worth stopping at, and if you want to play some golf, you're in luck because Bear Brook Golf Club is close at hand. Lakes are nice; Paulins Kill Lake is a lake that's in close proximity to Duck Pond, and there's wonderful hiking along the Flat Ridge Trail.
