There are some tremendous whitewater spots on Rockaway River. There's so much to do here at Deer Pond that you need to camp here for a while, Camp Ocawasin Lodge is a great spot for that. Deer Pond gets lots of water; August is when you get the most rain here, and February meanwhile is the driest month. If you love the outdoors, you'll have a thing about Deer       Pond. Dry warm beds await you at Parsippany - Days Inn, and if you've had enough of Deer Pond, Piscatells Pond is close by. Really wonderful skiing awaits you at Hidden Valley. You'll need more than a day to explore everything Deer Pond has to offer, you can camp at Brookwood Swim and Tennis Club. Embassy Suites Hotel Parsippany is a wonderful spot to get some rest, and Deer Pond Dam is not far at all from Deer Pond. Nearby lakes? Sure, Lake Juliet is in                  the neighborhood of Deer Pond, and whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then, we recommend Pequannock River. This lake is so wonderful. Going for a hike on the Cannonball Trail is always a perfect adventure, and there's no such thing as a bad day of skiing at nearby Mountain Creek. A journey to Gateway National Recreation Area is worthwhile. Through the long summer days at Deer Pond highs are usually in the 80's. Summer overnight lows fall down to the 50's. Highs through the winter are usually in the 30's while the cold winter nights at Deer Pond are in the 10's.
