Bee Meadow Pond
 | Beautiful scenery. A trail surrounding the second and 3rd ponds makes for a nice walk although a little overgrown in places. Fishing has been slow to recover from the fishkill in 2001 when fertilizer chemicals built up on the deep bottom mixed with the pondwater creating toxic conditions for the fish. It is slowly improving with the bass and pickerel that have survived are replenishing the fish population. I've caught some 4 to 6 pound bass in recent years so they must have been around before and survived the fishkill which is good news. The Pond is stocked with trout annually, but I can't see them lasting longer than a couple of weeks due to the warm and stagnant waters. Spring and early summer are the best times to go before the fertilizer rich waters of pond foster abundant algae and lillypad growth. The second and third ponds are the best for bass, while catfish can be caught anywhere and thrive in the stagnant waters. I would recommend shiners for bass if you can find them anywhere, but lures work fine.... |
