Bob Soldwedel: Cold Spring Lake is owned by the Salvation Army. Because of the liabilities involved, they no longer allow people to fish the lake. If you want to fish Cold Spring Lake, you will have to register for their Senior Citizen Program (minimum age is 55). Boats are available for use only when a lifeguard is on duty and be prepared to say ''Grace'' before every meal. The lake is worth fishing and if you bring your wife there are a lot of other activities going on. Currently prices are $340 per person for an eight day, 7 night stay at the lodge. Meals are included in that price. You can contact them by mail at The Salvation Army, P.O.Box 132, Bloomingdale, NJ 07403. It's a pretty good deal.

The beauty of Cold Spring Lake is reason enough to stop by. All through the summer highs here at Cold Spring Lake get into the 80's. When the night sets in temperatures descend down into the 50's. For the period of the winter highs are in the 30's, and through the dark hours in the wintertime at Cold Spring Lake temperatures fall to the 10's. | | the Pine Meadow Trail, and you can stay the night at Camp Ocawasin Lodge. Hidden Valley has splendid slopes and a friendly staff, and if you haven’t been to Gateway National Recreation Area, you have to schedule some time for it since you're here. Cold Spring Lake Dam is an attention-grabbing thing to check out, and get yourself into a kayak and hit Rockaway River. the wettest with most of the rain, and February is the month with the least moisture. There's so much to do here at Cold Spring Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Motor Sports Marina and Campground is a brilliant place for
that, and if you need a site to stay Comfort Inn Fairfield (Essex County) is a glorious choice. This lake is so wonderful. Sterling Forest is a very popular ski area around here, and don't leave Cold Spring Lake without first
going for a hike along the Cannonball Trail. If you get bored of Cold Spring Lake, you could also check out nearby Terrace Lake, and wonderful hiking is available along the Kakiat Trail. Man, is there loads of amusing stuff to
do next to Cold Spring Lake. If you're here at Cold Spring Lake, you could pop by Beaver Brook, and after a long day outdoors Regency House Hotel & Suites is a great spot to spend a night or two. This lake is so wonderful. Enjoy a
round of golf at Sunset Valley Golf Course not far from Cold Spring Lake; Star Lake is a nearby lake that you could go to. Soar down the rapids of Pequannock River in a kayak, and at Cold Spring Lake you can catch a sight of Torne Mountain.
