Cold Spring Lake
15 miles away Cold Spring Lake is owned by the Salvation Army. Because of the liabilities involved, they no longer allow people to fish the lake. If you want to fish Cold Spring Lake, you will have to register for their Senior Citizen Program (minimum age is 55). Boats are available for use only when a lifeguard is on duty and be prepared to say ''Grace'' before every meal. The lake is worth fishing and if you bring your wife there are a lot of other activities going on. Currently prices are $340 per person for an eight day, 7 night stay at the lodge. Meals are included in that price. You can contact them by mail at The Salvation Army, P.O.Box 132, Bloomingdale, NJ 07403. It's a pretty good deal....
Taylortown Reservoir
15 miles away Can this beautifull reservoir be fished by permit?...
Bee Meadow Pond
15 miles away Beautiful scenery. A trail surrounding the second and 3rd ponds makes for a nice walk although a little overgrown in places. Fishing has been slow to recover from the fishkill in 2001 when fertilizer chemicals built up on the deep bottom mixed with the pondwater creating toxic conditions for the fish. It is slowly improving with the bass and pickerel that have survived are replenishing the fish population. I've caught some 4 to 6 pound bass in recent years so they must have been around before and survived the fishkill which is good news. The Pond is stocked with trout annually, but I can't see them lasting longer than a couple of weeks due to the warm and stagnant waters. Spring and early summer are the best times to go before the fertilizer rich waters of pond foster abundant algae and lillypad growth. The second and third ponds are the best for bass, while catfish can be caught anywhere and thrive in the stagnant waters. I would recommend shiners for bass if you can find them anywhere, but lures work fine....
Henion Pond

Torne Mount Ivy Trail
19 miles away Locally, and on the NYNJTC maps, this is known as the Tuxedo-Mount Ivy Trail. There is a 'Hillburn-Torne-Sabago' trail that ends at the middle of the TMI. These are both in Harriman State Park. I'm not quite sure what the reference to 'Robert Moses' is all about, except perhaps the state park on Long Island, about equidistant, but in the opposite direction, from NYC-Newark-Edison. Gateway National Recreation Area, although very nice, is also nowhere near this trail....
