Stay the night at Brookwood Swim and Tennis Club, and do pay a visit to Gateway National Recreation Area while you're here at Campbells Pond. Campbells Pond is a relatively wet place ordinarily with a lot of precipitation; the month of May is the wettest with most of the rain while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation. This lake is so wonderful. If you're a golfer then a great close       by course is Essex County Francis A Byrne Golf Course, and get yourself into a kayak and hit Pequannock River. And that's not all you can do here at Campbells Pond. If you need a spot to stay Best Western Turtle Brook Inn is a pleasant choice; some of the water nearby flows, like Bear Brook. Interesting geology is available here; Hawk Hill is close to Campbells Pond. After a long day outdoors Turtle Brook Inn is a splendid site to spend a night or two.                  You'll need more than a day to look at everything Campbells Pond has to offer, you can camp at Kaufman Campgrounds. Butler Pond is a nearby lake that you could pop by, and get wet paddling on Rockaway River. High temperatures at Campbells Pond through the summer months are in the 80's; through summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. Highs through the winter are ordinarily in the 30's, and after the sun is down during the wintertime temperatures at Campbells Pond plunge into the 10's. This lake is so wonderful. There's some interesting stuff to catch a sight of at Campbells Pond Dam right next door to Campbells Pond, and there's wonderful hiking along the Cannonball Trail.
