There's whitewater on Pequannock River for all you thrill seekers. You'll need more than a day to discover everything Butler Pond has to offer, you can camp at Kaufman Campgrounds. Visiting Gateway National Recreation Area is just something you need to do if you haven't yet. This lake is so wonderful. Stay the night at Brookwood Swim and Tennis Club, and you can take a little visit to Canoe Brook Dam while you're       here at Butler Pond. A good deal of rainfall falls at Butler Pond; the month of May is the wettest with most of the rain, and the driest of the months is February. Through the days of summer highs here at Butler Pond get into the 80's while overnight lows are generally in the 60's. Through the wintertime highs are mostly in the 30's with temperatures at Butler Pond dipping down into the 10's throughout winter nights. If you need a location to stay Hilton                  Short Hills is a good choice, and whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then, we recommend Rockaway River. Go for a hike on the Cannonball Trail, and the summit of Nook Hill can be seen from Butler Pond. This lake is so wonderful. You simply must take a look at Hawk Hill while you're here at Butler Pond; if you're a golfer then a nice nearby course is Township of Millburn Golf Course. And if that's not sufficient, there's a load more to do in the vicinity of Butler Pond. A great close by hotel is Westminster Hotel; unsurprisingly Bear Brook flows through this area.
