Going for a hike along the Cannonball Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this area, and a nice place to camp here at Boonton Reservoir is Sun Air Lakeside Camp. This lake is so wonderful. After a long day outdoors Ramada Limited is a brilliant site to spend a night or two; if you have the time, Gateway National Recreation Area is a national park worth going to. Having       a fine time at Boonton Reservoir is easy. Pequannock River is a brilliant whitewater spot close to Boonton Reservoir; you can never get enough of the fine skiing at Mountain Creek. Dry warm beds await you at Sheraton Parsippany Hotel, and skiing at Hidden Valley is one of those things you just should do. All through the summertime here at Boonton Reservoir, high temperatures frequently reach the 80's. Summer nighttime lows drop down to the 50's. Highs through                  the winter are regularly in the 30's; nighttime lows in the 10's for Boonton Reservoir. If the weather is pretty, you get a wonderful view of Sheep Hill from Boonton Reservoir, and do stop by Boonton Reservoir Dam while you're here. All the water falling down from the sky makes Boonton Reservoir a wet site; all through August this area sees the most rain while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation. This lake is so wonderful. Enjoy a round of golf at Rockaway River Country Club not far from Boonton Reservoir, and camping at Brookwood Swim and Tennis Club is always a delightful experience.
