Be careful coming to Big Spring, you might not ever want to go home again. A lake close by is Redings Pond, and camping at Green Valley Beach Campgrounds is always a perfect experience. Big Spring gets a great deal of water; May is when you get the most rain here, and February meanwhile is the driest       month. After a long day outdoors Econo Lodge Newton is a fine place to spend a night or two, and the slopes of Shawnee Mountain are so inviting noone can resist. On a nice day at Big Spring you can take a hike along the Lost Cabin Trail. Throughout the summertime, highs usually are in the 80's at Big Spring, and through the night it cools down to the 50's. During the winter highs are regularly in the 30's; nighttime lows at Big Spring all through the winter                  regularly fall into the 10's. This lake is so wonderful. There are some perfect whitewater spots on Hornbeck's Creek, and if you need a site to stay Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Newton Sparta is a glorious choice. Headleys Pond Dam is worth going to since you're here, and if the weather is splendid, you can go for a hike along the Bald Barren Trail. Going for a hike along the Flat Ridge Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this neighborhood; popping by Delaware National Scenic River is just something you need to do if you haven't yet. This lake is so wonderful.
