You'll need more than a day to discover everything Bear Swamp Lake has to offer, you can camp at Camp Ocawasin Lodge, and there's great hiking along the Kakiat Trail. If you're a golfer then a great nearby course is Sunset Valley Golf Course, and you'll       never forgive yourself if you don’t go skiing at Hidden Valley if you're here. Do visit Zeliff Pond near Bear Swamp Lake, it's a scenic lake, and you can never get enough of the pleasant skiing at Mt. Peter. What a spot this is for outdoors folks. Best Western Regency House Hotel is a great place to get some rest, and hiking is a popular thing to do around Bear Swamp Lake; Pine Meadow Trail is a good local trail. Gateway National Recreation Area is a glorious                  local destination here at Bear Swamp Lake. This lake is so wonderful. Do pop by Bear Swamp Lake Dam Two while you're here at Bear Swamp Lake; glorious hiking is available along the Cannonball Trail. This lake is so wonderful. Get covered with water paddling on Rockaway River, and dry warm beds await you at Howard Johnson Express Inn - Parsippany. Bear Swamp Lake in fact is in the middle of a lovely outdoors paradise. Whitewater paddling is great on Pequannock River, and there's a forest here called Norvin Green State Forest. The high level of precipitation makes Bear Swamp Lake a pretty wet place; most of the rain falls throughout August, and February is when it's the driest. There's some flowing water close by, Apshawa Brook is a stream you can visit during your stay; if you're here, you could also stop at lovely Henion Pond. Throughout the summertime at Bear Swamp Lake temperatures are generally in the 80's. When the night sets in temperatures drop down into the 50's.
