In New Hampshire there are many beautiful lakes, Upper Gentian Pond is one of them. Basin Campground and Picnic Area is a good campground nearby, and there are some magnificent whitewater spots on Peabody River. This lake is so wonderful. Near Upper Gentian Pond you come across the Success Trail which is a fine hiking trail; lakes are such serene places, why not visit Reflection Pond. Whohoo, so many fun things in one place! Throughout the warm months at Upper Gentian Pond highs are commonly in the 70's, and throughout summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 20's while Upper Gentian Pond night low temperatures through the wintertime are in the 0's. You feel that's enough? Just getting warmed up. Trail is a good hiking trail close by. This lake is one of the great places here in the White Mountains. Get yourself into a kayak and hit Wild River, and a splendid nearby hotel is A Top Notch Inn. Upper Gentian Pond gets a normal
amount of rain; most of the rain falls through August, and the driest month is February. This lake is so wonderful. The peak of Bald Cap can be distinguished from Upper Gentian Pond, and you can never get enough of the good skiing at Sunday River. Dryad Falls is a nice local attraction.
