If you are traveling by, why not stop by Thorndike Pond. Near Thorndike Pond you find the Parker Trail which is a pleasant hiking trail; there's some attention-grabbing stuff to catch a sight of at Thorndike Pond Dam close to Thorndike Pond. This lake is so wonderful. The smiling folks of Keene like to hang out close by, and Woodbury Hill is charming and can be seen from here. So many exciting things to do here at Thorndike Pond, too tremendous to be true. A splendid

| | place to camp here at Thorndike Pond is Emerald Acres. If you need a site to stay Gardner Super 8 Motel is a great choice, and going for a hike on the Harling Trail is always a great adventure. This lake is so wonderful. There are fine sites to look at along the Pumpelly Trail; while you're here, you could visit Frost Brook. Summertime brings highs in the 80's to Thorndike Pond. the winter the highs are mostly in the 20's, and during the dark hours in the wintertime at Thorndike Pond temperatures descend to the 0's. Camping at Monadnock State Park Campground is always a great experience. Lakes? Sure,
Garfield Pond is nearby. If you have a thing about the outdoors, you'll like Thorndike Pond. A magnificent close by hotel is E.F. Lane Hotel; Contoocook River - North Branch has a delightful whitewater paddling spot close by. Shattuck
Golf Course is a tremendous golf course close by; in case you don’t mind getting drenched, you can always go whitewater paddling on Contoocook River. Thorndike Pond gets a normal amount of rainfall; most of the rain falls through
August, and the driest of the months is February. Not far from Thorndike Pond, you'll find Gilson Pond which is a delightful lake; why not head up to Crotched Mountain and strap some skis to your feet.

I've seen great blue heron, ducks of many varieties, Canada geese and even two bald eagles. It's easy to surprise beaver early in the morning as well as muskrat and oppossum. I haven's spotted deer yet, but have heard them crashing off into the brush when I paddle too close to shore in the morning mists.... |
