It's always fun to stop by Taylor Pond. A nice close by hotel is Springhill Suites By Marriott Boston Devens. Potanipo Pond is a perfect lake near Taylor Pond, and you'll perhaps meet some people from Manchester-Nashua here. This lake is so wonderful. Devils Den is a tremendous site to check out, and on a pretty day you acquire a great vista of West Hill from Taylor Pond. golf is lots of fun at Townsend Ridge Country Club. If you don't mind getting soaked, you can always go whitewater paddling on Souhegan River, and let's not forget Wolf Brook which is a stream that you may encounter while you're here.
Swamps like Dead Swamp close to Taylor Pond make for pleasant spots to have a look at, and do take a hike on the Mitchell Hill Road. Now, you may believe that's a heap but there's even more entertaining stuff to do here at Taylor
Pond. Taylor Pond is in close proximity to Lost Valley which is without doubt worth going to, and good skiing awaits you at Wachusett Mountain. There's always Taylor Pond Dam to go to close to Taylor Pond; if you're here you can take
a hike along the Wapack Trail. This lake is so wonderful. After a long day outdoors Four Points By Sheraton Leominster is a splendid location to spend a night or two, and you can have a nice hiking adventure along the Old Country Road.

 | 17 miles away 1 PHOTO Locust Pond is a lake that was formed in 1954 by the creation of the Locust Pond Dam on Locust Brook, which flows from the Locust Pond to the larger Merrimack River. Locust Pond is considered a lake because Mass Regs (310 CMR 10.04) state that a lake is ?any open body of fresh water with a surface area of ten acres or more, and shall include great ponds. The site is bordered by Locust Avenue and light residential development to the northwest, and Route 3 to the southwest. The other half of the perimeter is bordered by dense development. The pond is mostly open water with no emergent marsh development. The upland is all forested. The habitat quality of this site is limited by the development surrounding it, however, it should provide at least transient habitat for aquatic mammals such as beaver, otter, and mink, and many of the upland mammals and migratory songbirds of forested habitats.... |
