     Whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then we recommend Connecticut River, and there are plenty of folks from Lebanon here. This lake is so wonderful. You'll need more than a day to explore everything Straw Reservoir has to offer, you can camp at Mount Ascutney State Park Campground, and Bald Mountain is clearly visible from Straw Reservoir. A typical amount of precipitation falls here at Straw Reservoir; the wettest month of the year  
   is mostly May, that's the one that rains the most, and February on the other hand is the driest. There's just no way someone can get bored here at Straw Reservoir. Looking for something near Straw Reservoir? McQuade Reservoir is around here, and Holiday Inn Express SPRINGFIELD is a wonderful place to get some rest.
Hiking along the Futures Trail is wonderful fun, and if you come at the right time of year, Sugar River offers some great whitewater. Claremont Country
 
               Club Country Club is a golf course near Straw Reservoir; at Straw Reservoir Dam in close proximity to Straw Reservoir there are some exciting things to see.
Nearby lakes? Sure, Dole Reservoir is in the neighborhood of Straw Reservoir; great skiing awaits you at Whaleback. Have a great hiking adventure along the Slot Trail, and you can stay the night at Running Bear Camping Area. This lake is so wonderful. Visit Grandy Brook since you're here at Straw Reservoir, and going for a hike along the Hang Glider Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this region.
Summertime brings highs in the 80's to Straw Reservoir, and through summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. During the winter highs are in the 20's; through the dark hours in the winter at Straw Reservoir temperatures drop to the 0's. Any time is a great time at Straw Reservoir if you love the outdoors. If you need a spot to stay Rodeway Inn Claremont is a great choice, and you can never get enough of the great skiing at Ascutney.
