A great beach in close proximity to Star Lake is Dewey Beach; there are other locations here than Star Lake, for example McAlvin Pond. This lake is so wonderful. Camping at Rand Pond Campground is always a splendid experience, and if you're here you can take a hike along the Monadnock Sunapee Trail. Be careful coming to Star Lake, you might not ever want to return back home again. After a long day outdoors Days Inn Lebanon/Hanover is a wonderful spot to spend

| | a night or two. There's just no way somebody can get bored here at Star Lake. Best Western Sunapee Lake Lodge is a great place to get some rest, also Star Lake Dam is worth checking out while you're here. Mount Sunapee has magnificent slopes and a friendly staff; beaches are splendid and Wadleigh State Beach is no exception. a brilliant day you can take a hike along the Wilmot Trail. Get wet paddling on Sugar River, and Star Lake is splendid enough to spend more than a day at, Loon Lake Campground is a splendid local campground. This lake is so wonderful.
If the weather is good here at Star Lake, you can go for a hike along the West Ridge Trail, and you can hit the slopes at Whaleback nearby. Summertime brings highs in the 80's to Star Lake, and during the night it cools down to the
50's. Daytime highs all through the winter are in the 20's; winter nights come with lows in the 0's to Star Lake. Star Lake gets a normal amount of yearly rainfall; the month with most of the rain is August, and the driest month of the year is February.

Ragged Mountain
 | 14 miles away I went to this mountain with my school and it was a really fun expiernce and I am planning to go back with my school some time soon.......n, a 1,650 acre mountain resort which includes a 220 acre ski area and an 18-hole golf course, was purchased by Salt Lake City based resort developer RMR-Pacific, an affiliate of Pacific Group. Since then, total acreage has increased to 2,000 and plans call for 65 further acres of slopes. Upon acquiring the mountain property, the new owners invested over $2 million into the resort for renovations including 14,000 feet of new snow making pipe, 25 new energy efficient snow guns, new snow groomers, a new Wonder carpet lift for beginners, chairlift improvements including reviving lift service to Spear Mountain, base lodge renovations including new carpet, the repair of steps and outside brick walkways, the addition of seasonal lockers and an outdoor fire pit, and adding two new restaurants. The renovations did not stop there. In 2008, Ragged Mountain announced the addition of a new upscale dining establishment, additional snow-making capacity, and three all new terrain parks including one of the only all natural terrain parks in the East.
