Take a hike on the Campground Trail; why not camp at Hidden Valley RV And Golf Park while you're here at Scobie Pond. This lake is so wonderful. Hiking along the Catamount Trail is perfect fun, and after a long day outdoors Best Western Executive Court Inn & Conf. Ctr is a great location to spend a night or two. The high level of rain makes Scobie Pond a quite wet location; during the month of November you get the most rain around here, and the driest month

If you're interested in hydro structures, you can take a look at Hoods Pond Dam, and Sleep Inn Londonderry is a delightful place to get some rest. This is no site for people who don’t like to enjoy themselves. The best way to spend a winter day is on the slopes of nearby Bradford, and a lake nearby is Rainbow Lake. of summer temperatures fall down into the 50's. Through the winter highs are in the 20's, and night lows at Scobie Pond throughout the winter ordinarily descend into the 0's. If you come at the right time of year, Concord River
offers some brilliant whitewater, and a round of golf at nearby Hoodkroft Country Club is a glorious way to kill some time. That right there is loads already, but it carries on; Scobie Pond has it all. McIntyre is a very popular ski
area close by, and a great location to camp here at Scobie Pond is Calef Lake Camping Area. Get yourself into a kayak and hit Merrimack River, naturally you could also pop by Lower Shields Pond while you're here; it's not far at all.
Why not take a refreshing hike along the Broken Boulder Smith Pond Trail, and obviously Shields Brook flows through this region.

Locust Pond
 | 12 miles away 1 PHOTO Locust Pond is a lake that was formed in 1954 by the creation of the Locust Pond Dam on Locust Brook, which flows from the Locust Pond to the larger Merrimack River. Locust Pond is considered a lake because Mass Regs (310 CMR 10.04) state that a lake is ?any open body of fresh water with a surface area of ten acres or more, and shall include great ponds. The site is bordered by Locust Avenue and light residential development to the northwest, and Route 3 to the southwest. The other half of the perimeter is bordered by dense development. The pond is mostly open water with no emergent marsh development. The upland is all forested. The habitat quality of this site is limited by the development surrounding it, however, it should provide at least transient habitat for aquatic mammals such as beaver, otter, and mink, and many of the upland mammals and migratory songbirds of forested habitats.... |
