Parker Pond is a great lake in an area with lots of outdoors fun all around. Take a hike on the Pumpelly Trail, and since you're here you will meet lots of folks from close by Keene. A tremendous place for whitewater paddling close to Parker Pond is Contoocook River - North Branch, and why not head up to Crotched Mountain and strap some skis to your feet. | | striking lake called Frost Pond. That right there is heaps already, but it carries on; Parker Pond has it all. While you're here at Parker Pond, you could also go to beautiful Garfield Pond. You can run the rapids of Contoocook River next to Parker Pond, and Colonial Hotel is a great place to get some rest. I've seen great blue heron, ducks of many varieties, Canada geese and even two bald eagles. It's easy to surprise beaver early in the morning as well as muskrat and oppossum. I haven's spotted deer yet, but have heard them crashing off into the brush when I paddle too close to shore in the morning mists.... |
