Melendy Pond is a nice lake to visit. The top of Birch Hill is easily seen from Melendy Pond, and the Wapack Trail offers hiking at its best. You can run the rapids of Souhegan River next to Melendy Pond; there's great hiking along the Old Country Road. You'll need more than a day to discover everything Melendy Pond has to offer, you can camp at Field & Stream Travel Trailer; dry warm beds await you at Courtyard by Marriott Nashua.

| | Here at Melendy Pond you'll in all probability meet some folks from Manchester-Nashua, and magnificent hiking is available along the Mitchell Hill Road. This lake is so wonderful. Lakes? Sure, Williams Pond is nearby, and for you golfers we recommend nearby Amherst Country Club. There are other places here than Melendy Pond, for example Osgood Pond, and Crowne Plaza Hotel Nashua, Nh is a good location to get some rest.

Locust Pond is a lake that was formed in 1954 by the creation of the Locust Pond Dam on Locust Brook, which flows from the Locust Pond to the larger Merrimack River. Locust Pond is considered a lake because Mass Regs (310 CMR 10.04) state that a lake is ?any open body of fresh water with a surface area of ten acres or more, and shall include great ponds. The site is bordered by Locust Avenue and light residential development to the northwest, and Route 3 to the southwest. The other half of the perimeter is bordered by dense development. The pond is mostly open water with no emergent marsh development. The upland is all forested. The habitat quality of this site is limited by the development surrounding it, however, it should provide at least transient habitat for aquatic mammals such as beaver, otter, and mink, and many of the upland mammals and migratory songbirds of forested habitats.... |

Ahhh good ol Heywood's used to be a great lake for swimming with rope swings that threw you out 80 feet into the water. but since then many things have changed people caught on to the fun nites out there , and police started showing up and now the whole place ''all the trees'' have been cut down above the apple orchard, so no swimming there or you will be hit with a fine of up to 500$... |
