Shelburne Trail
Beautiful trail, mostly easy grades. Lots of running water and a few hidden waterfalls along parts of the trail. You hear no traffic, almost no jets, just the sound of wild land around you. There is a nice campsite in a hemlock grove at the height of land, at the intersection of the Kenduskeag Trail. An easy half-day walk between the Shelburne gate (Connor Brook) and the Wild River Camp Ground in Bean's Purchase....
Adams Slide Trail
(…) The route's a very difficult bushwhack now. ...Hey folks - the Adam's slide trail is a now defunct trail... while it can be followed, it is quite steep and overgrown. You talk about the Six Husbands Trail like it was a walk in the park. It is one of the more difficult trails in the Presidentials. Star Lake is at 4300+ feet, requiring a strenuos climb. Weather in the Presidentials is changeable and extreme - people die in snowstorms in the summer up there. Not good to publish such misleading info......

Six Husbands Trail
...to a spring. To make matters worse there is an overhanging rock right above you so if you have a big pack you will have to drag it up behind you. Above this section the trail continues to climb very steeply with some nice views until you reach the top of Jeffersons knee. Here You reach treeline and views are amazing. The trail runs across the top of the knee with fairly flat terrain. Caution the rest of the hike is above treeline where some of the worst weather in the world is in all seasons. From there the trail climbs up the summit cone of Mt. Jefferson over a talus slope that has snow on it usually into late summer. The trail climbs very steeply until you get just below the summit. From there you can take the Jefferson loop trail that will bring you to the summit. The true summit is the bump in the middle. A very demanding and difficult hike. Not suggested for begginers or people not in shape. Take the weather seriously and check the forecast before you leave. Bring full gear including coat hat and gloves. Great hike some of the best views in NH. I love Jeffersons knee. It is the ...

Cedar Pond
11 miles away I spent most of my summers growing up at cedar pond.We had our camp there and I remember the penny candy at the red and white striped store and the dog inky. There was also a dog named cedar that would visit all the camps in search of food. The lake would be freezing even in August and when we had to start a fire in the furnace the only wood we had to burn was obviously cedar and the smell was wonderful. And though the ''camp'' my Pepere had is no longer there, the wonderful memories are....
Black Mountain
11 miles away 3 PHOTOS ...e always have something going on! The parking is slope-side and convenient, and we don't ever have pushy crowds! We are proud to be operating in our 74th Season as the oldest ski resort in New Hampshire. Nestled among pastures and farmlands in the quaint village of Jackson, New Hampshire, Black Mountain is the quintessential New England ski destination. Beginners can relax and improve their skills on Sugarbush and Black Beauty. Experts, test your skills on the super steep Mr. Rew or the winding narrows of Upper Galloping Goose. Check out the Lostbo Glades or Carter Notch for some of the finest tree skiing in the East. Whatever your ability, Black Mountain has something to offer. 'Black is almost certainly one of the best areas you've probably never skied. Even though it's been operating for 72 years, it's still a well-kept secret. Many of the trails are narrow. They twist and turn through the woods the way ski trails should. It's a very different experience than skiing down the crowded, wide-open, straight-down the falline trails so prevalent of newer, more glamorous r...
