Whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then we recommend Suncook River, and probably you're looking for nearby lakes? Sure, Gillan Pond is just a very short distance away. Gunstock is a very popular ski area close by, and during your tour here you'll meet some people from Laconia for sure. The Landmark Inn is a pleasant place to get some rest. There's       so much to do here at Manning Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Barnes Field Campground - White Mountain National Forest is a fine location for that. Head up to Abenaki and strap some skis to your feet, and you can go for a hike on the Catamount Trail. Good hiking is available along the Campground Trail, and Gillan Pond Dam has perfect water scenery. You'll need more than a day to look at everything Manning Lake has to offer, you can camp at                  Bay Hill Campground and Cabins, and there's some flowing water close by, Nelson Brook is a stream you can have a look at while here. Having a splendid time at Manning Lake is simple. From Manning Lake you get a magnificent sight of Goat Pasture Hill; if you need a site to stay The Margate Resort is a nice choice.
