Loon Pond is a nice lake to visit. Going for a hike on the Catamount Trail is always a great adventure. High temperatures at Loon Pond through the warmest time of the year are in the 80's with nighttime lows in the 50's. Daytime highs throughout the wintertime are in the 20's with temperatures at Loon Pond dipping down into the 0's through winter nights. This lake is so wonderful. Go for a hike on the Broken Boulder Smith Pond Trail, and do stop by Meetinghouse

Landmark Inn. Lots of folks from Laconia come to Loon Pond, and why not head up to Gunstock and strap some skis to your feet. This lake is so wonderful. Loon Pond is wonderful enough to spend more than a day at, The Acord Campground
is a wonderful local campground, and whitewater paddling is splendid on Suncook River. Near Loon Pond you find the Onemile Trail which is a good hiking trail, and a delightful place to camp here at Loon Pond is Hillcrest Campground
and Cabins. The high level of precipitation makes Loon Pond a reasonably wet place; November is the month that gets the most rain, and February on the other hand is the driest.

Sun River Campground
 | Have been here a couple of times and its the best! We go with a group and get all the sites near the river/stream (perhaps the river/stream is Sun River)and its wonderful!!! No need to worry about the kids and/or dogs bothering anyone and they can just play in the water, fish, look for frogs, float on their tubes, etc. Everyone is very friendly and helpful, and the facilities are clean!!! We've stayed here a number of years and I couldn't ask for more from a camp ground . . . you're camping but still have all the conveniences right at hand! The spot we get near the water is by far the best! Country store is close and, for those who are interested, I can even use my cell phone (only if necessary, of course)without getting cut off! Thumbs up to Sun River Camp Ground!!! ... |
