On a lovely day you get a sight of Kingsbury Hill from Island Pond, and if you need a location to stay The Henniker Motel is a splendid choice. Have a pleasant hiking adventure along the Monadnock Sunapee Trail, and not far from Island Pond you'll come across Barney Pond which is a charming lake. This lake is so wonderful. A pleasant site to camp       here at Island Pond is Rand Pond Campground, and going for a hike along the Pumpelly Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this neighborhood. Throughout the warm months at Island Pond highs are generally in the 70's, and throughout summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. The winter brings highs down to the 20's, and winter nights come with lows in the 10's to Island Pond. What a place this is for outdoors folks. The skiing at Mount Sunapee                  is magnificent; dry warm beds await you at Best Western Sunapee Lake Lodge. Since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always visit close by Freezeland Pond, and Crotched Mountain is a glorious local ski area. Contoocook River - North Branch has a delightful whitewater paddling spot close by, and since you're here you can take a hike along the Farmers Trail. Island Pond really is in the middle of a striking outdoors paradise. Island Pond is delightful enough to spend more than a day at, Idle Times Campground is a delightful local campground. Island Pond is a good spot of normal rain; through November this area sees the most rain, and January on the other hand is the driest. This lake is so wonderful.
