There's whitewater on Croyden Brook for all you adrenaline junkies, and hey, Gotta ski right? Mount Sunapee is a good location to do that. Northstar Campground is a delightful campground nearby, and since you're here you can take a hike along the Slot Trail. All through the days of summer at Hurd Pond temperatures are frequently in the 80's. For the period of the dark hours of summer temperatures drop down into the 50's. to visit for more than one day, Crow's Nest The is a great place to camp nearby, and what would winter be without some skiing at Whaleback. Since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always explore nearby Cold Brook Pond,
and there are some splendid whitewater spots on Sugar River. This lake is so wonderful. Lakes are wonderful; Gilman Pond is a lake that's in the vicinity of Hurd Pond, and if you're looking for some flowing water? Try Beaver Brook.

Ragged Mountain
 | 26 miles away I went to this mountain with my school and it was a really fun expiernce and I am planning to go back with my school some time soon.......e new owners invested over $2 million into the resort for renovations including 14,000 feet of new snow making pipe, 25 new energy efficient snow guns, new snow groomers, a new Wonder carpet lift for beginners, chairlift improvements including reviving lift service to Spear Mountain, base lodge renovations including new carpet, the repair of steps and outside brick walkways, the addition of seasonal lockers and an outdoor fire pit, and adding two new restaurants. The renovations did not stop there. In 2008, Ragged Mountain announced the addition of a new upscale dining establishment, additional snow-making capacity, and three all new terrain parks including one of the only all natural terrain parks in the East. The resort development group has a history of building resorts around the Western U.S. and Canada. Along with the substantial funds to help with improvements, the new owners hired ski industry veteran Bob Fries as president and general manager to implement the necessary changes.
