The skiing at Pats Peak is glorious, and you don’t have to go far from Holts Pond to distinguish the water at Holt Dam. Going for a hike on the Mitchell Hill Road is always a pleasant adventure, and people from Manchester-Nashua love to come here. This lake is so wonderful. While you're here at Holts Pond you can play some golf at Passaconaway Country Club, and why not camp at Tyngsboro Campground since you're here at Holts Pond. Throughout the summertime

| | highs here at Holts Pond reach the 80's while nighttime lows are usually in the 50's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 20's, and during the dark hours in the winter at Holts Pond temperatures dip to the 10's. You just have to have a thing about Holts Pond. what you need, and if you don’t have a problem getting wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Merrimack River. Holts Pond is a wet site that gets a large amount of rain; during the month of November you get the most rain around
here, and September is when it's the driest. Whitewater paddling is magnificent on Piscataquog River, and you can go for a hike on the Broken Boulder Smith Pond Trail. Near Holts Pond you hit upon the Old Country Road which is
a good hiking trail, and camping is available at Tynsborough Campground. Duck Pond is a great lake in the neighborhood of Holts Pond, and after a long day outdoors Hampton Inn Nashua is a splendid location to spend a night or two. You imagine that's enough? Just getting warmed up.

Locust Pond
 | 1 PHOTO Locust Pond is a lake that was formed in 1954 by the creation of the Locust Pond Dam on Locust Brook, which flows from the Locust Pond to the larger Merrimack River. Locust Pond is considered a lake because Mass Regs (310 CMR 10.04) state that a lake is ?any open body of fresh water with a surface area of ten acres or more, and shall include great ponds. The site is bordered by Locust Avenue and light residential development to the northwest, and Route 3 to the southwest. The other half of the perimeter is bordered by dense development. The pond is mostly open water with no emergent marsh development. The upland is all forested. The habitat quality of this site is limited by the development surrounding it, however, it should provide at least transient habitat for aquatic mammals such as beaver, otter, and mink, and many of the upland mammals and migratory songbirds of forested habitats.... |
