year is a fine time in the White Mountains if you go for the outdoors. Finnsons Cliff is a glorious place to explore while in the neighborhood, and Diamond River is a glorious whitewater spot nearby. The White Mountains scenery is
always beautiful. What a site this is for outdoors people. In case you don’t mind getting drenched, you can always go whitewater paddling on Magalloway River, and Hell Gate Pond is a fine site to visit for more than one day, Log Haven
Campground is a fine site to camp nearby. Balsams Wilderness has good slopes and a friendly staff, and don't leave Hell Gate Pond without first going for a hike along the Old Magalloway Trail.

Boundary Pond
 | 15 miles away Drove up on the 14th of October, 1 day before season closed. First time in 35 years of going was the pond complete smooth, not a ripple. Between my friend and I, we must have caught 30-40 fish both on dry & wet flies, only keeping 4 for breakfast the next morning. It was a good mix of newly stocked (white bellies) and either hold overs or natives (deep rich colors). It was a wonderful experience!... |
Lower Richardson Lake
 | 16 miles away 1 PHOTO We stayed at South Arm campground and paddled the lake every day. One night we rented a wilderness site and tented from canoes. We also drove down the road and hiked out and back on the AT. -Great Place!... |
