If you like lakes and you're in this part of New Hampshire you can check out Harris Pond. Indian Head is not far from Harris Pond at all, and there's no such thing as a bad day of skiing at close by McIntyre. This lake is so wonderful. Chase Brook is a nice local stream, obviously you could also pop by Supply Pond while you're here; it's not far at all. Going for a hike along the Mitchell Hill Road will let you absorb the natural beauty of this vicinity, and if

| | you're going to from Manchester-Nashua, you won't be the only one. Hit the slopes at Pats Peak in the vicinity. Now, you may feel that's loads but there's even more entertaining stuff to do here at Harris Pond. The peak of Library Hill can be spotted from Harris Pond, and you can stay the night at Tynsborough Campground. This lake is so wonderful. Why not take a look at Harris Pond Dam since you're here, and Piscataquog River is a good whitewater spot close | |

by. A splendid close by hotel is Best Western Granite Inn. There's so much to do here at Harris Pond that you need to camp here for a while, Tyngsboro Campground is a nice location for that. Hiking along the Old Country Road is
splendid fun, and probably you're looking for nearby lakes? Sure, Bowers Pond is just a very short distance away. During the long summer days highs here at Harris Pond get into the 80's; the overnight is quite colder of course, ordinarily
in the 50's. Highs during the wintertime are usually in the 20's, and after the sun is down all through the winter temperatures at Harris Pond dip into the 10's. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy this place. Golf can be played
at Whip-Poor-Will Golf Club; you can run the rapids of Merrimack River. After a long day outdoors Courtyard by Marriott Nashua is a fine place to spend a night or two, and while you're here you can take a hike along the Broken Boulder
Smith Pond Trail. Harris Pond is a wet place that gets a good deal of rain; all through the month of November you get the most rain around here, and the driest of the months is September.

Locust Pond
 | 1 PHOTO Locust Pond is a lake that was formed in 1954 by the creation of the Locust Pond Dam on Locust Brook, which flows from the Locust Pond to the larger Merrimack River. Locust Pond is considered a lake because Mass Regs (310 CMR 10.04) state that a lake is ?any open body of fresh water with a surface area of ten acres or more, and shall include great ponds. The site is bordered by Locust Avenue and light residential development to the northwest, and Route 3 to the southwest. The other half of the perimeter is bordered by dense development. The pond is mostly open water with no emergent marsh development. The upland is all forested. The habitat quality of this site is limited by the development surrounding it, however, it should provide at least transient habitat for aquatic mammals such as beaver, otter, and mink, and many of the upland mammals and migratory songbirds of forested habitats.... |
