Here at Half Moon Pond you'll probably meet some people from Manchester-Nashua, and you can hit the slopes at McIntyre close by. This lake is so wonderful. The trees of Litchfield State Forest are a great source of shade on hot summer days, and Half Moon Pond is fine enough to spend more than a day at, Tyngsboro Campground is a fine local campground. | | Inn Merrimack is a delightful choice. At Half Moon Pond during the warmest time of the year highs are in the 80's with overnight lows in the 50's. High temperatures all through the winter are normally in the 20's, and overnight lows in the 10's for Half Moon Pond. of beautiful Rocky Hill is available from Half Moon Pond; there are swamps here too, Grassy Pond is around here. Get yourself into a kayak and hit Piscataquog River. A lot of rain falls at Half Moon Pond; during the month of November
you get the most rain around here while January is the month with the least amount of precipitation. The best way to spend a winter day is on the slopes of nearby Bradford, and going for a hike along the Catamount Trail will let you
absorb the natural beauty of this vicinity. Life's too short to enjoy all the exciting things next to Half Moon Pond. There's so much to do here at Half Moon Pond that you need to camp here for a while, Tynsborough Campground is a
splendid place for that, and not far from Half Moon Pond you'll find Perch Pond which is a wonderful lake. Have a fine hiking adventure along the Old Country Road; unsurprisingly Chase Brook flows through this area. You feel that's
sufficient? Just getting warmed up. Glide down the rapids of Merrimack River in a kayak, and hiking along the Broken Boulder Smith Pond Trail is brilliant fun.

Locust Pond
 | 1 PHOTO Locust Pond is a lake that was formed in 1954 by the creation of the Locust Pond Dam on Locust Brook, which flows from the Locust Pond to the larger Merrimack River. Locust Pond is considered a lake because Mass Regs (310 CMR 10.04) state that a lake is ?any open body of fresh water with a surface area of ten acres or more, and shall include great ponds. The site is bordered by Locust Avenue and light residential development to the northwest, and Route 3 to the southwest. The other half of the perimeter is bordered by dense development. The pond is mostly open water with no emergent marsh development. The upland is all forested. The habitat quality of this site is limited by the development surrounding it, however, it should provide at least transient habitat for aquatic mammals such as beaver, otter, and mink, and many of the upland mammals and migratory songbirds of forested habitats.... |
